Give Me Five for Kids is a fundraising initiative supported by over 40 radio & TV stations across regional Australia. For almost 20 years, the month of June has been dedicated to raising much needed funds for local community hospitals.
All donations received stay local and go directly to the children’s ward in each market to help provide the best possible care for sick local children and their families when they need it most.
Over the years millions of dollars have been raised to pay for invaluable medical equipment and provide support for families, but it’s not nearly enough. So please dig deep and donate now and help our sick local kids!
June is Give Me 5 for Kids month! There's heaps of events & promotions right across regional Australia where you can get involved.
From Pyjama Days, Walkathons and Bowls Days, to Gala balls and Movie Nights, there are plenty of events for all ages.
Not to mention, a fun way to show your support for your local hospital's children's ward.

"It is a great feeling to know that the work our team does help save lives. As well as making the time children spend in hospital more enjoyable."- Paul O’ConnorGeneral Manager Mackay & the Whitsundays
"I’ve done some crazy things to get the cash for Kids. People ask why we do it, and it all became very clear why, when I met a young girl who was very ill at the Mackay Base Hospital and when I returned at the end of June to say hello – I found out that she had passed away. It broke my heart"- Jay ShipstonSea FM Breakfast Announcer Mackay & the Whitsundays
"Give Me 5 for Kids strikes a chord with everyone... From 5c to $5 - every bit counts. Everything we raise locally stays local... and what a better feeling is there than knowing YOU have made a difference."- Liona LadnerPromotions Manager, Sea FM Mackay & The Whitsundays
"Over the years, Give Me 5 for Kids has helped purchase life changing equipment for patients including:
MRI Video Goggles : These reduce the stress and trauma for children in the MRI scanner.
Defibrillator: Now in the children's ward, we have been able to use for cardiac arrest, in turn saving children’s lives.
Bladder scanners: A less invasive procedure on children for bladder functionality testing."
"Give Me 5 for Kids has enabled us to enhance the service we provide to the Central Coast, with the purchase of equipment like resuscitation trolleys and foetal heart monitors for the Birthing Suites, incubators for the Special Care Nursery, specialised paediatric warmers and ultrasounds for use in surgical procedures and monitors for the Children's Ward."- Matt Hanrahan Central Coast Local Heath District
A chance discussion on a breakfast show in Gosford in the late 90’s, led to the establishment of a unique community-based fundraiser. An initiative which has changed the lives of thousands of Australian children and their families throughout Regional Australia.
After a parking station refused to accept 5 cent pieces as payment, the question was asked on-air, “what are 5 cent pieces good for?” A listener phoned in and suggested “why don’t we collect all those useless 5 cent pieces – then donate the money to the Children's ward at the hospital?” So they did!
